The iboats forum moderators are excited to announce that at this time it appears the iboats forums posting pictures function is working once again. Though we cannot promise for how long, we're hoping for indefinitely.
Have a Yamaha 150 4 stroke that is emitting a humming noise when I turn on the navigation lights but does not do it with just the anchor light. (motor off) Possible short or bad rocker switch? Where do I start? Thanks
Need help in determining potential causes\fix to electronic gauges not working. I have lost the tach, tilt and fuel gauges that all went at the same time and following the replacement of the stereo that is located in the vicinity. The voltage and speedometer are working. I checked all fuses...
Motor will not go into reverse or forward. It was working fine the last time out, although I had to adjust the cable as it seemed to be too loose. Can not move the shifter at motor by hand. Help!
Have a 1967 60 hp Seahorse (VXL-13A) that will start and idle but boggs down under load. Was told by a marine mechanic that it was losing voltage and thus spark at open throttle. He replaced the coil and did most of the normal tests to determine it is an ignition problem, however he could not...
how do you bump up your post without posting the same thing twice? a late reply seems to go unanswered because it's down the list. Just need clarifaction of the logistis of the forum. Thanks.
Model VXL-13A Seriel #J2835115

Left the dock with no problem, cranked right up and planed out with no problem, although it did seem to not have as much speed as last time out.

Later in the day heading back in (started with no problem) she seemed to be missing and pulsating...
When looking from the front of the powerhead, there is a small "door" that opens into the motor that has a chock lever and two adjusting knobs. Are these the slow speed adjusting "needles" that I hear about? If so, how do I adjust them to optimize the motors fuel burning ability at lower speeds?
I know it's an old boat and all, but is there anything I can do to make it easier and smoother to move the throttle lever? Are there grease fittings that I should be greasing? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Is it alright to use a muff on this motor and if so which hole am I covering? (I know it's the stupid question of the day) Just don't want to damage the motor. My guess is its the larger hole in the upper part of the lower unit on the left side.
would a 1962 Evindude 60hp mechanical shift be a compatible replacement for a 1967 60hp Johnson Electric Sea horse? The motor is on a 1964 15ft Starcraft Ski Boat.
filled up a garbage can with fresh water, dropped the sea horse in and ran it for several minutes. The water had a brown oily slim which had a strong fuel smell (I have a headache from the smell). When I removed the motor from the water, the lower unit was covered with this oily brown slim...
model #VXL-13A
seriel #J2835115

Can anyone provide or direct me to info on the specs. 2 or 4 stroke, oil requirements, ect. on a recently acquired old horse?
Model #VXL-13A
Seriel # J2835115
60HP
Just purchased this vintage boat and motor. Cranks right up but is spitting fuel and leaking sluddgy oil from lower unit. Is there a minor fix to get us in the water without further damage?
