The iboats forum moderators are excited to announce that at this time it appears the iboats forums posting pictures function is working once again. Though we cannot promise for how long, we're hoping for indefinitely.
Have a 94 88spl which only gets to luke warm. Heads are not cold, can hold a finger on them for 10 seconds or so before it gets uncomfortable. Bought it used and have not inspected thermostats. Runs fine but uses a lot of fuel compared to other outboards I have owned. What temp should I...
Got a 97 "Super Bandit" riveted 17fter with a 94 Rude 88 SPL on it. Bought it that way from an individual. The boat has a 16 gal tank, livewell, and battery space under the rear deck. The boat is rated for 90hp. I have raised the motor one hole and wot is around 5100 at 38 mph pushing a 17...
it sure is frustrating coming in here everyday to find all the issues everyone is having with their tohatsus. Can't somebody post at least a little problem, hehehehehehe!

Now about that old crossflow 'Rude on the other boat.........!
I bought a tiny tach for my 94 Rude 88spl. Tried it on a Tohatsu 25c2 and seemed to read double the expected result. Should the tach work the same on each motor or can I chalk it up to interference on the Tohatsu from the other plug wire. I think I read somewhere on this site that the tohatsu...
Was running down river wot and the little sucker just went on strike. 2001 model, pull start, cranked back up but would not run above idle speed. Had to idle ten miles back to the ramp. Have never had any trouble before, but I feel like I have a fuel issue. I broke a plug wire with the...
Have an old Tempo gas tank that has never been used. Would like to set it up as a spare for my 25 tohatsu. Would the Honda male connection from Wallyworld mate with the Tohatsu female hose connection? Tempo lists separate part numbers but they look the same to me?
current clymer's goes to 2000 model year. any difference between 2000 and 2001 service procedures? Does tohatsu have model specific service manuals and how do I get one?
DIL has an old 74 Ebbtide basser with waterlogged hull and transom that needs rebuilding. Has 85 hp Merc with old, hard, burned wires from the stator to the electrical connects in front of the carbs. Most of the solenoid wires have corroded and/or burned too! Battery cables have lost 6 inches...
Bought a new-to-me 1994 Evinrude 88 SPL last year and have been flustered with the erratic tach and voltmeter situation. After researching the topic on this forum, I guessed that the rectifier needed replacing but after getting an OEM manual and doing the tests, it checked out OK! I found the...
1994 evinrude 88 spl. Tach works to wot then falls off to 3,000 give or take a few. Traced sending wire from tach to plug in the control box. Can anybody tell me where the sending wire connects at the motor? Has evidently a 6 amp unregulated charging system from what I see on the head...
Just acquired a 94 evinrude 88 spl. Compression 130 - 135. First question... is the compression ok? Ran it on the muffs, sounded ok. Checked the gauges and it appeared that the amp meter was showing battery voltage. I wouldn't get rpm up much above idle on the muffs and I don't know if more...
Just traded boats and now I have a 97 alum basser with a rude 88spl on it. #G03573607 serial num. Is this a 96 motor and what do I need to know about it? What's max rpm, etc?
Trying to help a friend locate this bracket from a used junker or else get suggestions for repair from the more astute wrenches on the board. Anybody have any ideas?

1970 55 Horse Evinrude.

Have a 21 ft pontoon and want to overnite with the wife and younguns while catfishing. Have seen some enclosures to keep the weather out but I can't find the web addy's of any vendors. I especially like one I saw that was on a double bimini setup and made of clear vinyl all around with zip out...
Last time I went out in my fishing boat, my lovely bride helped me get ready and hooked up the battery backwards. I didn't realize it until I tried to crank the poor thing and it just gave me a "raspberry". It's an 82 merc 40, electric start. What damage might have been done to the charging...
Can any of you expert riggers tell me where the cavitation plate should line up on a mounting for a pontoon boat? Got a 60 Mariner on a Playbuoy. I noticed that the cav plate is about 6 inches under water while running wot and wondered if that would be normal for a Toon.
Have a 83 Monarch 2 seater crappie boat with stick steering and a 82 40 hp merc. Also have some skinny water with rocks and rapids that I would like to fish. Could I convert this old motor to a jet drive and roughly, how much would a project like that cost?
