    What Year is my Mercury Outboard

    I have recently purchased an old Mercury 500 Thunderbolt 50 HP motor and it has the serial # 7088966 on it anyone know the year? And anything you can tell me about it is it a good motor etc. I know it was built here in Canada. Thanks!
