The iboats forum moderators are excited to announce that at this time it appears the iboats forums posting pictures function is working once again. Though we cannot promise for how long, we're hoping for indefinitely.
I have the mk pd40 on the old boat, and well I burned up the old pedal, smoked the left/right controls on the computer chip in the pedal, so I ordered a new pedal and did the multimeter test on it, and it checks out ok.
But when I plug her in, it will not turn right/left, but the actual prop...
Yesterday morning I took the boat out and it ran fine. Yesterday afternoon I took it out again, and it would not start. Today I tried to trouble shoot it. This is what I did:
1. Fuel pump is working, removed the line from pump to carbs,(carbs were cleaned two weeks ago) and it is squirting...
A float lever...
I broke one of mine this weekend adjusting the float, it just snapped in half...
70hp Merc. 3 cyl., seriel # 6174250...outboard.
Does a marina or parts dealer usually carry these?

I have an 83 Mercury 70hp outboard on the boat...
Here is my problem and things I have done so far:
The problem is that it will idle all day long but when I give it full throttle, it will plane out and run for 4 or 5 seconds on plane then sputter and die then as soon as the boat settles I can...
Got a 83 merc 70hp and it will idle fine and go into the forward gear then as soon as i give it some more throttle it will slip out of gear and rev up...:eek:
any help is greatly appreciated ;)
