I recently had a piston burn up in an 87 115 hp from being leaned out when the middle port cover had 2 bolts loosen up letting air in.
I just bought a 85 90 hp to replace it and noticed as I was taking it apart there was a bolt missing (found it down in the lower cowling) in one of the port...
I need an expert's advice here.
I have a chance to pick up a 1985 90hp for $300.00. Supposedly it has good compression and will start up fine but will not run at high RPMs.
Looking at the specifications this and my 1987 115 hp (bad powerhead) are really similar.

I am in need of a block for a Mercury 1987 115 hp Inline-6 engine. The cylinder wall has been damaged too much to be fixed. Does anyone know what year range of block will work for this as a direct match? Does anyone have any leads of a good place to buy one? Any help would be very appreciated.
