The iboats forum moderators are excited to announce that at this time it appears the iboats forums posting pictures function is working once again. Though we cannot promise for how long, we're hoping for indefinitely.
Fuel/oil mix seems to be coming from the carb venturies at all 6 after shut down. I've looked and cleaned everything I can think of, but over night, I've got the fuel mixture running down the leg, and puddled inside the cowling.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to eliminate this problem?
The problem started with the boat owner not being able to get over 3600 rpm's before the engine would stall out.
I changed spark plugs, and a new fuel water separator, then water tested. It ran better, got to the 4500 rpm range, then stalled out.
I checked out the high pressure fuel pump...
Mercury 25 XD 85' model Had hot spark on bottom cyl and weak spark on top cyl. New coil fixed that problem, but still no combustion and the compression is 115 at the top cyl.
Bottom cyl is 120 compression.
Bottom cyl fires fine and good combustion, top cyl fires fine and no combustion.
Swap...
I've looked and compared part numbers on carb parts and all are identical on these two engines. except the intermediate jet. #50 on the 120's and #54 on the 140's.
I then went to the power packs. Both use the same packs.
Question is; Is the power difference only in that intermediate jet, or is...
This Was a near give away I couldn't pass up. The motor wasn't running and I told the guy I could fix those carbs for about 150.00, but he'd rather sell it, so here I am with my 500.00 Sunbird, and the motor runs like a top.
It needed a rectifier to get the tach working, a set of wheel bearings...
Have any of the owners or mechanics seen the end caps of the trim units back out/unscrew?
I'm asking because that is what I came across recently. From what I've been able to determine when I removed the unit from the engine, both end caps were not screwed down tight. This is something I've...
This is no thing of beauty, but it was a butcher job when I got it.
It started out as a 63' Jupiter, but had the bow cut out of it, and just enough helm area to hold the wheel.
I finished cutting it out and trimmed it up quite a bit to make it neater looking.
It's powered by a 25 johnson 2...
There's one recirc line on a 97' 25 hp that connects to the intake manifold below the carb, and runs up behind the fuel pump to a nipple and connects there.
Were does the recirc line on a 98' 25 hp connect to from the intake manifold.
There's no nipple tapped into the block behind the fuel...
Some of you guys would cry if you saw this boat. I'll bring a tear to your eyes when I figure out how to post some pics.
The previous owner, removed the windshield and cut out the bow, leaving just enough for a make shift console, supported with a couple of PT 2x4's. It looks like he used a can...
Serial # L349149. I went to the manuals you have for downloading, and selected #25.
The problem is, I can download the first 3 sections, but nothing further. Am I missing a proceedure in this downloading, or is that all that's available?
What I've downloaded has been a big help, but I'd like...
I seem to remember from marine tech school, that counter rotating, Yamaha lower units, were stamped with an L, just above the anticavitation plate, in the rear.
Please, varify this for me.
I was working with someone, that just recieved 2 new LF 250's. They are both stamped with this L. I...
