    Boats from work.

The flight in question was en route to Honolulu. None of the packages on that aircraft were destined for Continental U.S. addresses.

Already have passenger planes being flown as drones ?

Regarding autopilots, I used to teach my students that, even though the autopilot may be controlling the airplane, the pilot should never stop flying the airplane. Heading, altitude, and airspeed must be monitored and maintained. If any of those three are not in the desired state, disconnect...

    Can You Wear This Shirt

Had to buy one and learn how to use it for high school chemistry in fall 1973. The department held a fund raiser to buy a digital scientific calculator. By the next year, basic 4-function calculators could be bought at K-Mart for $5. Later in the year, we learned rudimentary FORTRAN and used...

    Tonneau Cover

Well, my truck bed rail is also five feet high. I have zero problems with it. My truck has steps formed in the side forward and in the bumper aft. I carry a folding step ladder that I mostly use getting on and off the swim platform of my boat when it is on the trailer. I occasionally use the...

    Tonneau Cover

Did you look at the link? I have the Diamondback SE. It opens at the back and front. I use the front opening all the time.

    Tonneau Cover

I installed one of these: https://diamondbackcovers.com/products/diamondbackse Hands down, the sturdiest, most secure, most water tight tonneau cover I have ever seen. Pricey, but built in the USA.

I'm sure everyone's seen this by now.....

In November 2019, I was approached at the Laishley Park boat ramp in Punta Gorda, Florida and berated by a person who took issue with me leaving my Ranger Tug unattended at the courtesy dock while I went to the parking lot to retrieve my tow rig for take out. I was solo. It’s impossible to be...

    Chain worth it?

I’m late to this thread, but 10’ of chain is way too little for your boat. Most folks recommend at least one foot chain for each foot of boat length. Having an all-chain anchor rode would be pretty heavy and require a bridle or snubber. I agree with those who recommend a bigger anchor, but...

    alaska cruise

I didn’t see any local sight seeing flights on your list of activities and that’s a good thing. I’m a retired pilot, but still follow the industry and fly little airplanes (my roots!). The accident rate for sight seeing flights in Alaska and Hawaii is elevated for good reasons— challenging...

    Do I need a trailer?

Back in the ’70s, a 12’ aluminum boat was considered a “car topper” and that’s exactly how I carried my 12’ Sears jon boat on my ’68 Javelin. Still have the 12’ jon boat. Wish I still had the ‘68 Javelin.

How Do You Utilize Sliding Rear Window on Your Pickup

Thanks for all the responses. I thought that the rear slider’s best use would be to facilitate airflow. One thing I didn’t expect to hear was to stick long items through it. I would do that only in a pinch. In my other trucks, I used a bed and cab roof rack system to carry long lumber and such.

How Do You Utilize Sliding Rear Window on Your Pickup

I bought a new pickup in December. It has a power sliding rear window, the first sliding rear window for me of any type-- power or manual. I haven't spent much time with the windows open this winter, but spring is coming! If you're the driver of a pickup with a sliding rear window, how do...

80th Anniversary of the Battle of The Bulge

An elementary school friend had a dad with a prosthetic leg. It replaced the leg he lost in the Battle of the Bulge. That was the only thing ever mentioned. The dad was a very popular professor at Frostburg State College (now University). He drove a car with hand controls, quite an unusual...

Curious, how are old boats disposed of that marinas refuse to haul out?

Interesting story, but where I live, it’s a process to seize property you don’t own and destroy it. No question it can be done. It just takes time and money. As far as saving pieces of the destroyed boat to “show the court”, I can assure you that a judge isn’t going to allow boat parts to be...

Curious, how are old boats disposed of that marinas refuse to haul out?

Speaking as someone who has served on a marina board, having the marina dispose of a derelict boat and then “going after the owner” for reimbursement is much easier said than done. Trust me on this.
