    Telescopic bimini post

Has anyone seen or heard of a telescopic bimini support post(s). I can't lay mine flat as it will chew up the boat, but I need to drop it to fit the boat in the garage. I was thinking if I could replace the rear two posts with some time of telecopic unit I could lower it just enough to garage...

Hehehe...oh if only I had a few more dollars...

Been doing a lot of work up North lately and keep driving by this boat. It's just the perfect go fast looks but without being garish like many of them are. Lot's of ammenities and just plain sexy...god I want this boat...wish I hadn't just bought mine last year (read: upside down on value vs...

    High oil pressure

2008 4.3 TKS with alpha 1 Anyhow, change the oil, and splurged a bit and went with Royal Purple. My owners manual says to use mercruiser full synthetic 20W40 but I could only find 15W40. Now however until the engine has been running for 20 minutes or so, anything over 2000rpm pegs the oil...

Colicky baby + Boat = Relief (big pics)

Heh..our first trip of the year..pretty choppy...but it was a nice relief! The boat ran perfect, and only a little loading snafu at the end of the day really(gotta try a different prop to have better control in reverse). Ah...end of the day back at the marina... Ian

What is this alignment tool you speak of?

Figured I'd start a new thread..just becuase....I was told to. :D Is there instructions somewhere for this alignment tool? I'm not sure of how it works, as I helped my neighbor remove his alpha 1 outdrive a few times, and we never used any alignment tool...wasn't that hard, the shaft just slid...

    Getting the water out

Okay, got the oil situation solved, man that filter is a bugger! Flushed out the cooling system with tap water, and pulled all the plugs (5) from the cooling system. I had to lower the lower unit, as it apparently holds a fair bit of water in the upright position. Any other tips to ensure I got...

PREPOST WARNING: Not interested in oil debates, doing this cause I can afford to and believe some (not all) the hype, thanks though./WARNING Boat: 2008 Glastron GT205 w/Mercruiser 4.3 TKS and Alpha 1 Engine SN: 1A310382 Okay, getting the boat ready for winter this weekend. Thought I'd give...

    New 4.3 shifting/accelerating problems

It'll go back to the dealer if it requires any serious fix, but the dealer is two hours away, so it's easier and cheaper to make minor repairs myself. So here's the problem. I let the motor warm up at the dock a bit, then when I put it in gear it sometimes stalls out. It will start right up no...

Don't see it in the ADULTS ONLY section

Don, or anyone else, I don't see a service manual for the 4.3 V6 2001-newer. The only one I see there is the one up to '97 with balance shaft. Either I am blind or it's hidden elsewhere. Found the aplha1 GenII stuff though, thanks! Any tips where I can find the non MPI manual for my engine? Ian

    Darn it...ran outta money!

Heh, well i was going to pick up a stainless prop but found out I was broke. Funny thing that. Hopefully my income tax return will come soon. Anyhow, for those that forget, I am running a Glastron GT205 with a 4.3TKS merc and an Alpha One outdrive. The current prop is a 21pitch aluminum. Last...

    Hey Ontarians!

It's supposed to be cold as **** tommorow. But my wife and I are desperatly wanting to see the festival of lights from the lake. Just curious if a bunch of boaters would be interested in having a meet out on the water? I was planning on launching from the bottom of Cawthra, forget the parks...

    Scuffing my new boat-help/opinions need.

I never had this problem with the old boat, but it was much smaller. Anyhow at the bow eye the trailer bumper/roller is scuffing through the gel coat. I think it's because I am not winching the boat in tight enough..but really..how tight should I be winding it for towing? Right now I've got her...

    Merc. 4.3 Drain Plugs

This weather is total crap.... Anyhow we are supposed go below freezing tonight so I figured I better drain the cooling system on the new boat. The manual is a bit confusing, so I thought I better ask around here. It's an '08 Merc 4.3 TKS (carb'd). I found a total of 5 Drain plugs...

    Aluminum to Stainless

On my boat (in sig below) I've got a 4.3 TKS Merc with Alpha 1 out drive. It currently has the stock aluminum prop. My merc manual says I should not exceed 4800rpm at wot but I sit at, or very close to, 5000rpm and close to 50mph. I was thinking about getting a stainless prop for improved...

    Mounting things to hull.

Just another two sleeps till I get my shiny new boat. However I was curious, I was planning on transfering my 6mnth old fish finder to the new boat, but am leary of putting screws into a brand new transom. What is the best way to seal these screws to prevent premature transom damage (rot)? Ian

    Huh...spare parts....I'll just toss those

Okay, I won't toss them...but still...trying to figure out where they belong. When I dropped the lower unit to rebuild the water pump I found half an o-ring (about the diameter of the drive shaft), a rubber 'seal' the has drive shaft splines inside about half way down inside then ends sharp. A...

    Merc 50 Impeller Problems

Okay, dropped the lower unit in order to change out the impeller (pump kit should be here wednesday). I thought maybe I had a bit of a seal leak as there was a bit of gear oil on the skeg...or I thought maybe it was just unburnt two stroke (here's to good dreams). Well when I dropped the lower...

    Yet another boat comparison thread!

Well I've looked at a thousand different boats and even asked for varying opinions on different models. Well spring is in the air so I've been looking a little harder, and with the ailing economy, boats that were previously outside of my budget are within it. So, I've moved up to looking at some...
