    Dealer initially said electrolytic corrosion due to bonding error - when moored. When I explained it’s never been moored, all went quiet ….it’s used in salt water, fully washed down and flushed after every use. They submitted report to VP, and they advised they will replace whole drive...

    Finally have notification that dealer now has all the parts. They will build up a full new DP drive, then I take my boat in for it to be fitted, includes engine removal. Unfortunately the date I have been given is 2 months from now, still it’s good to have a datE.

    I am using it … Volvo agreed I can continue using without impacting warranty claim. Just a lot of corrosion, and bubbling paint.

    Thought I’d give an update (as some asked for this) … in Jan I was concerned that Volvo were quoting dealer 3 months for spares. Now Sep and therefore now been 10 months since reporting issue, and still no date on all of the spares. The transom shield has arrived and rams, but no gearbox yet...

    To be fair there is no value limit to extended warranty, it clearly states it is a full extension to original 2 years …. and covers all parts & labour for engine, drive & controls. However decided too pricey and wont take it out.

    I do loads of work ..... but while under warranty do get annual services in place - glad I did, as they are now to swap out the transom shield, rams and the whole of the drive - all under warranty.

    Thought this would be advice …. I‘ll set up a bank direct debit to put 50 GBP a month into a savings account … and forget it …. If no claims in 3 years no loss ….
