    motor won't turn off

    50 HP Merc 4cyl 4 cycle outboard will not shut off when I turn the key off. I have to pull the gas line off the tank and run it dry to stop it. Where is the malfunction?

    overheat alarm

    the overheat alarm sounds when I idle too long,<br />but stops if I increase the rpm for 30 seconds. Possibly a worn water pump?
