    1964 5.5hp johnson..

    I want to check the compression on this motor and in the manual it says to ground the plugs. What does that mean. Ground the plugs. I thought if you just take them out is grounding them.. Thanks.

    1964 5.5hp Johnson lower unit oil.

    Before I run this motor on Monday I would like to change to lower unit oil. From what I've read on here i should use 80/90w or 75w-90 and this can be purchased at a auto shop, like Pep-boy's or autozone. Is this correct. Thank You

    This motor has been sitting around for several years. First thing i did was change the spark plugs and check for spark. Plenty of spark. I then disassembled the Carb and cleaned it up. Got a carb kit from the local johnson/rudy dealer and installed that. Put everything back together and BAM...
