I recently purchased a 1991 sanger and it has a 5.7 mercruiser in it and took it out today and it was shifting into gear, forward and reverse hard. I also noticed the neutral idle was sometimes climbing to 1900 rpms. It has a new transmission and carburetor. I think it could be the high rpm's...
