    1988 Bayliner Bass Trophy Trolling Motor (newbie)

    I finally own my first boat. 17' 1988 Bayliner Bass Trophy but it does not have a trolloing motor. I've read the smallest I should go is 50# thrust but what shaft length do I need? And is 50# thrust the smallest or could a 40# pull the boat (river fishing) Thanks ahead of time.
