Just got the boat & 2nd time out the over rev system comes on.Good stream from pee hole. Guy at dealer suspects it's the sensor.First how to test sensor to see if it faulty ?

I was wondering if anyone had a problem with their motor causing the over rev caution system to activate.Motor was fine till the warning buzzer came on & the motor would only run a at low rpms.Warning light for temp came on but the water stream comming out of the motor looked strong.
