    Newbie to site. Lots of info here. I have 40 Johnson that is missing serial number decal. I think it is 88 or 89. Need powerhead. Can anyone tell me what years would be interchangeable and what HP the same?Thanks in advance.

    interchangable year model

    I have a 40hp Johnson that I think is a 1988 model. I think maybe a broken connecting rod, as engine will turn over,but makes a bad noise. Can anyone tell me what model years I can use to find a powerhead. Thanks.
