    johnson outboard identification.

    I bought an older motor for my boat. It is a Johnson.. previous owner told me it was 18hp and from the 60's. the model # is FD-17M.. can anyone tell me the yr of the motor and what fuel mixture ratio it should be using. I have had it running but i am also having issues with the carb adjustment...

    need some info...

    I have a Johnson motor.. i know it was built in the 60's. I need to know which yr and what my fuel/oil ratio would be. can anyone help me out? model # is FD-17M. Also can anyone give me some tips on the idle.. i can get it to run, but it idles way too high. thanks. Gil.
