My 1996 5.7 carborated Merc with an alpha one outdrive makes a grinding noise when shifting. My motor is idling at 1000 rpm. Is the idle speed to fast and could that be causing the problem? If it is ideling too fast how do I slow it down? I did hit the outdrive hard enough to bend the skag last...
