My mid-80's 50HP Mercury Outboard starts up and runs fine. I can rev it up in neutral no problem.
When i kick it into gear and start going I have no issues, but once I reach approximately wake speed, the motor jerks in a repititive type of knocking, getting faster the more I accelerate...
