    Fuel mixture

    I just received the manual for my 1959 Elgin 40hp from the PO, and it calls for 6oz of oil per gallon of gas which would be just under 24:1, I've been running 40:1. Should I go to the 24:1 or am I ok with the 40:1, or should I split the difference and go with 32:1? Thanks Nick

    1959 40hp Elgin w/ no spark

    I am new to working on boat motors but am very knowledgeable about cars. I have a 59 40hp Elgin and have no spark, i was wondering how to troubleshoot this. I see that the coil is under the "flywheel" but do I need a puller to remove this part. Any help would be great. Thanks Nick
