Well I decided to try a new water pump one more time... Seems to be OK now...The only thing I found wrong was the plate under the pump was upside down.... Maybe that was it... Glad I didn't need to pull power head!....Thanks for the help
I spun with a drill and water comes out tube but doesn't really shoot out.. my drill doesn't turn it very fast. I don't know how much it should come out. I've quit for today.. It's too cold and windy!

And I just pulled the lower unit again to double check for something wrong down there before I tackle the power head... Might not make much progress due to weather conditions... The boat's under a carport.
Well I submerged it about 9" above pump. It peed sporadically. Seems like it peed better at idle than when revved a little. Water came out a while and steam a while.. Still got too hot... Is it very hard to get to the upper water tube grommet?

Pumps with muffs, but won't pump when submerged 8" above inlets.
Using a laser thermometer it definitely cools with muffs but over heats when submerged.
