Volvo Penta SX trim Sending unit

I have a 2001 Volvo Penta SX, driven from a 4.3 V6, also 2001. I see where the sending unit is. I also see how to remove it from the out drive. What I do not understand is how to pull it through the transom. The connector near the engine is to large to pull through as is the sending unit it...

    1956 Evinrude.

I recently came in to a 1956 15hp Evinrude. I thought the oil/gas ratio was 50:1, but last night I was readinga repair manual and found that the recommended Gas/Oil was 24:1. I ran about 9 Gallons through the engine at 50:1.

Should I do a compression check now to see how much...
