    40 Hp Yamaha and Tach ?

    Evidently my tach is not set right. I have a 3 cylinder Yamaha 40. Tach has setting for 4,6,8 cylinder 4 cycle and one marked 12-pole. Which one will work the best 4 or 12-pole ? It was set at 6 cyl and was only showing 2500 at full throttle. <br /><br />Thanks <br /><br />David

    40 HP Yamaha on a 18ft Bass Buggy Pontoon

    My question is my tach is only showing 2500 at full throttle. However its running at about 21 mph. Can anyone tell me what speed I should be running. Everyone I have talked to say I should be running about 5000 at full throttle any ideas.<br /><br />Thanks

    Help !

    I have a recently purchased 88 Yamaha 40 on a bass buggy. I noticed the last time out the volt meter almost pegged while runing full throttle. I cut on lights, live well etc. and it dropped.     40 hp yamaha question

    I have a 40 hp yamaha 3 cyl. It idles good and runs good at full throttle. However it "chugs" when slowly advancing the throttle or at very slow speed. I have changed the plugs. Any suggestions.
