    1990, 60hp, 3cyl Merc smokes too much.

    Blue/white smoke follows the back of the boat and turns the transome black after a day of trolling. The fuel/oil mix is correct and theres no sign of any water in the plugs. It starts fine, idles fine and has plenty of power. I feel kind of like the Peanuts character "Pigpen" with a cloud...

    1990 3 cyl 60 merc with new smokers habit.

    I have a 1990 3 cyl merc and it has begun to exhaust so much white smoke that the transom of my boat after trolling all day is black from the water line up 5 inches. A 50 to 1 carefully measured high quality sythetic oil ratio is not a factor. It idles fine and appears to have lot's of power.

    Year of 60 hp Mercury

    I need to find out the year of my newly aquired 60 so I can then find out why it smokes so bad. The only markings I can find on it is the ser # C265423.
