    options about buying old motors

    I am looking at buying a 50hp johnson that is somewhere around a 75 model. What do you guys think about guying a motor that old if it runs normal? Would it be better to try to find something newer?

    nissan 1999 30hp tiller hand throttle problem

    On my tiller handle, when i turn it, it has a lot of play in it. with the play in it, it doesn't give me enough movement to open the throttle all the way up and if I adjust it to where it does, it won't idle all the way down.     can anyone tell me how to adjust timing on my my 1990 60hp johnson. I have read the one that tash sends to everyone, but I don't understand how to make my timing actually change. I have found that it is way off, but don't know how to make it fire where it needs to be? Any help would be great!

    When I am starting to start my motor, it seems like the exhaust is building up a lot of pressure. If it fires soon enough, the pressure if released or if I let it sit for 5-10 minutes the pressure if released.     replacing stator

    Several years ago, the stator went out on my 1990 60 johnson. the mechanic that worked on it replaced it with one oem# 584560. It always seemed to be under powered since then and I found today that the correct oem #s for that motor are 583779, 584236, 584766. can that cause my motor to rung bad?

    Nissan Tach

    I just bought a teleflex tach for my 1999 Nissan 30hp. The directions that were sent with it, said to hook the send wire up to the yellow wire on the head. I did so, but never was able to bet the tach to work. The Tach did power up when I hooked up to the battery, Anybody know what I am doing wrong?
