    Source of Oil Leak

I have a 1995 Mariner 115 hp outboard that is leaking oil somewhere in the front near the fuel line. It leaks and drips out the front of the housing and into the splash well. Any ideas on where it is coming from?

    Cracked Clear Oil/Fuel Hose

I did the compression test after charging the battery. The gauge climbed very slowly up to about 150 psi for each cylinder. That seems really high, and it took way too long to get there. Do I have a bad gauge?

    Cracked Clear Oil/Fuel Hose

I will charge the battery tonight to see if it just didn’t have enough to keep cranking it, but it sounded alright.

    Cracked Clear Oil/Fuel Hose

You are correct, the hose in the picture is the replacement one. I bought it from Orielly’s and cut it to length. It did not overheat and it seems to be running fine now. I got a compression tester and attempted to do a compression test but it did not work. I pulled the plugs, screwed in the...

    Cracked Clear Oil/Fuel Hose

I recently discovered that this clear hose was cracked and broken off on the end connected to the fuel line. Symptoms were an oil leak down the engine area and the engine would not idle. The engine seemed alright at higher RPM. I replaced the hose but am wondering what damage I could have done...

Oil Leak Between Upper and Lower Unit

It just smells like oil, doesn’t smell bad like gear oil. So I won’t worry too much about the leak. Thank you guys for your input

Oil Leak Between Upper and Lower Unit

There was no water in the gear oil when I changed it. It’s good to hear this type of leakage is somewhat normal on 2-strokes. Thank you

Oil Leak Between Upper and Lower Unit

Thank you for the response, I will see later today and post an update. If it is a bad seal, is that something that absolutely needs to be replaced before taking the boat out this Spring?

Oil Leak Between Upper and Lower Unit

I am not sure, I wiped it up yesterday to get a better idea of where it is coming from. I did a gear oil change last fall before storing it and I initially thought it was from that, but this is on the opposite side of the motor. It also seems a little dark to be fresh gear oil. I will look...

Oil Leak Between Upper and Lower Unit

I have a 1996 Mariner 115 hp 2-stroke outboard that I purchased last summer. After storing it in my garage this winter I noticed an oil leak that appears to be coming from between the upper and lower unit (see picture). It is a slow leak, and has only slightly dripped to the ground over the...
