    On a carbureted engine, if its running hot, it may be a timing issue and/or running lean. An engine will speed up as it gets lean, then overheat and slow down.

    For me its a little more involved. The bunks on my trailer are very rotten, ready to be replaced (I just bought the boat) and dragging 3,000 pounds up rotted boards would not have ended well. Im going to replace the center 2 boards on the next outing.

    Overdrive allows the torque converter to be unlocked to save gas and make the drive more enjoyable. But trailering in OD with the torque converter unlocked causes a serious transmission heat problem. Its best to tow in the next lower gear like 4th gear and have the torque converter locked.

    Just a suggestion regarding the V bow stop, you could drill a hole thru the bolt and bow stop to lock it in the right position with a cotter pin or roll pin, or just tighten the nut so it cant move
