i fixed my 3.7 by replacing the seal with a national seal. part # 471570. as apposed to the mercury seal. it is thicker and will straddle the grooves in the cam shaft. also install the seal slightly further in or out of timing chain cover so the seals don't fall into groove and rides on smooth...
