loss of power over 3500 RPMS FYI

i have come across this issue about 4 times this summer and wanted to post it here in case others are experiencing this issue. boats would run great at idle and under load but when you climb over 3500 the engine would bogg down and stall. and may keep running if you pull back on the throttle...

I'm stumped, overheated 4.3 MPI, water in oil, replaced heads, still water in the oil

hmm, well it has the plastic gaskets, new bolts and torqued properly. i spoke to the machine shop and they only tyook of 5 thousands of an inch,. not enough to through off the angle. also ,if the intake was not sitting properly, i would think it would run rough or idle high, like a vacuum leak

    Confused about these parts

those are roller bearings, not gimbal bearings. those are inside the drive, in the upper section. as wellcraft stated, there are 3 types., i tend to lean towards the non greasable bearing myself.

Replacing U-joints Alpha one gen 1

yes, not only the seal, you have to break down the bearing/yoke assy. perform a rolling torque on the bearings, replace the lock nut, it is so much easier and accepted practice to just trim 2 of the tabs.

Replacing U-joints Alpha one gen 1
