I took it back to the marine dealer, and they put another prop on it saying that was the problem. Is it???? That just...

    I need your all's opinion

I have a 85 HP Javelin. Last year I got 42 mph @ 4000 RPM's. This year I'm getting 35 mph @ 4000 RPM's. I have checked it with a GPS, and I do have all new Faria guages, so I know they are right. I can get 4500 RPM's if I trim the motor up until it starts to rooster tail, but the boat starts...

    Trimming

Ok, I hear alot about trimming out the motor, but I wonder if I am doing it right.

First of all when I give it full throttle with the motor trimmed all the in, it only reaches 3800 RPM's. As I trim it out, it will go up to 4800 RPM's, and of course run faster. I trim it out until the...

    85 HP Johnson

    OK, Here we go....

I bought this 1978 85 HP Javelin that had been sitting for a few years. Johnson water pump

A quicky question before I call IBoats...

I bought a water pump kit for my 1978 85 HP from IBoats. 85 HP Javelin

This is my first Johnson motor, so here is the dumb question....

It is a 1978 85 HP Javelin Seahorse. Was this motor made for salt water use too? Also, is it better to replace just the impeller, or rebuild the whole water pump? The motor has been sitting for a couple of years...

    Steering from Mercury to Johnson

I finally found me a decent 85 HP Javelin that I want to put on my boat in place of my 65 HP Mecury.
Everything is fine except the steering cable. Is there something I need, because Mercurys hook up a lot different?
At least steer (pun) me the right direction on what to buy,or what to do.

    Tri-hull verus V-hull

Which is better for performance, getting on plane, turning, and speed? I have heard so many different stories that a v-hull is better to have.

Mine of course is a tri-hull, which does do a great job for fishing, but I would like your opinion.

    Mercury 650 problem

Hey guys, just found out about this forum and I think this place is great with a lot of very smart folks. Anyway, I have a 1968 Mercury 650 that when I go to throttle it, it seems like it is slow to build the RPM's. Once it goes on plane and I trim it, it runs pretty good, but it acts like there...
