    Too much octane ?

    I have a 1984 ,140 hp 4 cyl mercruiser.<br />The higher octane that I use, clears up the rattle<br />in the engine, but is there any concern that this higher octane could do any damage to my engine over time? <br /> Thanks,<br />Jackrg

    Fuel pump ,84, 181 merc.

    Well, I thought I had it figured out until I read something the other day about the filter on the bottom of my fuel pump actually being a water seperator. Is this true ? The bottom of the fuel pump has a metal bowl and a bail wire w/a tightening screw. Inside is a pleated paper filter.<br />84...

    starter selinoid replacement 85 johnson

    I have a 1969/70, 85 hp johnson. I can bypass the selinoid and get it to turnover, so i'm thinking that a new selinoid is needed. Is there a place online that this can be ordered?<br /><br />Thanks

    Engine won't shift out of forward gear.

    I have a 1969 85 hp evinrude on a 16 foot runabout.While boating the other day I noticed that the boat would not shift out of the forward gear even though the shift lever at the stearing wheel was in neutral.     Exhaust Flapper 3.0/181

    I have a 1984 mercruiser 181. It has all the<br />usual noises under the cover when running, but there is one that is not consistant. I was wondering would the exhaust flapper make more noise if the rubber/plastic end pieces were missing or partly warn away ?
