    Trailer Axle Wear Sleeve Alternatives?

Thank you. Now, i wish they made an installation tool that was longer than an inch....sheesh. I suppose a scrap piece of pipe with the right dimensions would do the trick.

    Trailer Axle Wear Sleeve Alternatives?

Thank you. This is for a small utility trailer with a 1.5" spindle and I'm having a heck of a time finding any alternates to the speedi-sleeve part# 99149. I was able to find them for cheaper ($30) on a couple other sites but still the $10 would be nice.

    Trailer Axle Wear Sleeve Alternatives?

I've got some grooves and pitting on my axle where the lip of my grease seal is riding and it's chewing up my seals in no time. I found the Speedi-Sleeves that fit my trailer but they're $72/each. Does anyone have a less expensive alternative?

    Flywheel And Starter Jamming Up

Thanks for all of the replies. As far as replacing the flywheel goes. Is it as simple as removing the flyweel nut, using a puller to get the old one off, and putting the new one back on? Is there a risk of throwing off timing or messing anything else up? I'm only semi-mechanical lol.

    Flywheel And Starter Jamming Up

Here are the 3 spots on the flywheel that are a little chewed up and 1 photo of the good teeth for reference. The flywheel definitely looks more chewed than the starter.

    Flywheel And Starter Jamming Up

Yes, the bendix is lubed and spins freely and will fall back down. The problem here is the teeth of the gear and flywheel not meshing and getting jammed with one another.

    Flywheel And Starter Jamming Up

On a '94 60 HP Johnson.....About once out of every 30- 50 starts or so, the points of the teeth of my flywheel and starter bendix will jam up together. When it does this, I have to spin the flywheel backwards to get them to disengage. Would a new bendix gear solve this?

Fuel Consumption - Is This Right?

My brother in law has new 60 HP mercury on the same size boat that i have and we went probably 35-40 miles on 3 gallons. New technology is certainly impressive.

Fuel Consumption - Is This Right?

I did a fuel consumption calculation yesterday and I I came up with approximately 4 Miles/gal at WOT. Does that seem right? - 1994 60 HP Johnson - 16ft Starcraft SS - 2 Adults, 2 batteries, 8 HP kicker motor, 9 gallons of fuel. Motor runs perfect, gets on plane fast, runs about 30 MPH at...

    Steel Caps or Bearing Buddys?

My boat trailer has generic steel caps (no rubber plug). I'm committed to replacing the rear seal and repacking with fresh grease every year. With that said, is it worth swapping them out for bearing buddys? I put less than 300 miles per year on the trailer and dunk it 10-15 times in fresh water.

    225 ocean pro (won't start)

You drained the fuel in the winter and then refilled with fresh gas before attempting to start it? Did you drain the fuel out of the carbs or were they left full of fuel over the winter? If left full, the fuel could have gelled and clogged your carbs. Can you hear the primer solenoid...

    Primer Bulb Recommendation?

I have an Atwood primer bulb that came with my boat that is rock hard and almost un-squeezable when it's less than 50-60 degrees. On my Nissan kicker motor the primer bulb is soft, easy to squeeze, and primes in just a few squeezes at any temperature. I'm pretty sure it's an OEM bulb that came...

Milky Gear Oil - Now What?

Thank you all for the replies. I have not replaced the drain/fill washers after my prior checks. I'll swap those out and keep a close eye on the condition of the oil after every use. If it starts to become milky again I will do a complete reseal.

Milky Gear Oil - Now What?

I just winterized my outboard and as usual I checked the lower unit oil. For the first time it's milky. There were no metal shavings on the magnet and no metallic sheen to the oil, just milky. I dont know the history of the lower unit prior to 4 years ago when i bought it and it was pressure...

    1991 Evinrude 60hp VRO - Won't Idle

I bought a '94 60 HP with the VRO already disabled and haven't had any issues running it that way. I think it's pretty common for people to disable the VRO and run premix out of fear of VRO failure. But from what i've read the VRO pumps are quite reliable and that fear is unfounded. My...

Does this look like it needs to be decarbed?

I took this video last year because i was having intermittent running issues and wanted to do a visual inspection and replaced the head gasket at the time. Turns out i had a failing power pack. It has since been replaced and everything is running well now.

Does this look like it needs to be decarbed?

I dont have a ton of experience with looking at carbon buildup in outboards. Does this look like it needs to be decarbed or is it in good shape?
