The problem... Backfire thru the carb after trolling (for hours).
Runs fine on the way out, runes fine trolling all day, get ready to head back in runs like crap.
Backfires thru the carb so bad i cant get more than 2000 rpm.

I have a 1979 GM 305 Mercurser with a cracked head.
The question I have is.. Will the heads off a 88 GM 305 OMC have the same bolt pattern?

I have a 1979 tiara 2000 overnighter with a mercruiser 898. I just replaced the exhaust tube on the starboard side. Took it out three short times and the same tube is cracked again. I am guessing that side of the engine is getting too hot but where would I begin to find the problem...
