    1980 Chrysler Sea King 15 Overheating/Waterpump Concerns

Hi guys. I think it might be appropriate for me to add a conclusion to my motor. First off, I didn’t get any notifications that others have replied so I am sorry for overlooking. I would like to thank everyone for their help! It means a lot to know that there are helpful people here. I believed...

    1984 Sea King Chrysler

Have you checked if your motor is firing on both cylinders. If it won’t rev up and hard to start and idle, it could be a bad condenser. Try removing a spark plug wire from the spark plug while running. If it shuts off try the 2nd one. If it has no effect, then one cylinder has no spark. It was a...

    Thoughts on Gamefisher 25

Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone knows anything about a Gamefisher 25 Horse. I have the chance of buying one for $200. The owner claims that it doesn’t have spark or when it does, it is very weak. He hasn’t seen it run before. It looks to be a 90’s 3 cylinder possibly. I went and looked...

70s Chrysler 16hp outboard funny runner

I redid my 1980 Sea King 15 Horsepower with the impeller, fuel pump, and cleaned carb. Mine’s does that hesitation and then jumps to heavy throttle too. I think that they must all run like that. I bought a carburetor from allstrand marine I think and it was supposedly new or rebuilt. It looked...

    1984 Sea King Chrysler

That carb setup looks different but the same rules may apply as that video. That top screw that touches the mag plate should be lined up with the tiny line on the mag plate in the fully closed throttle position. There should be an idle screw on the other side of the engine that connects to the...

    1984 Sea King Chrysler

40:1 will be great. It should be rated 50:1 from the factory but the extra lubrication is recommended. If you did research on YouTube you might’ve found this video. It helped me greatly getting my 15 HP running!

    Sears eska gamefisher reed question

Not sure what your reed valves look like but on my 1980 Chrysler Sea King 15 there were little metal flaps on the fuel pump diaphragm on top of holes. Slightly different animals but still related. The holes should be completely covered by the reeds and the reeds should be flat not warped. And...

    1980 Chrysler Sea King 15 Overheating/Waterpump Concerns

I think it was 170+? I know that the other surfaces on the head away from the spark plugs were still over 200. It definitely doesn’t want to push much water out at half throttle and above, but reverse and neutral are completely fine. Something with being in the forward gear is messing with the...

    1980 Chrysler Sea King 15 Overheating/Waterpump Concerns

Hello everyone. It’s been a month. I found that the passages and the pickup tube all seemed to be fine. I replaced the driveshaft seal on the impeller housing. I added a new wear plate. Still no luck. I’ve found the motor pumps good water in neutral and reverse but for some reason giving...

    Gamefisher 15hp

The Gamefisher/Chrysler/Force outboards, I’m thinking yours is, has to be deep enough in the water to pump water. Where the impeller housing is on the motor is where the water level should be over. Not sure if you overlooked this but just a suggestion.

    1980 Chrysler Sea King 15 Overheating/Waterpump Concerns

I took apart the exhaust housing and didn’t see much. I shot a water hose through the engine prior and soaked the jackets in vinegar overnight. It seems fine. I’m not sure what else could cause this problem. The bottom gasket at the bottom of the motor looked fine. The waterpump seems strong...

    1980 Chrysler Sea King 15 Overheating/Waterpump Concerns

The head pictures were taken when I got the motor. I since then took the head to a shop and reinstalled a gasket twice afterwards.

    1980 Chrysler Sea King 15 Overheating/Waterpump Concerns

I took some pictures of the head though they’re not the best, I didn’t see anything substantial in the head. I’m thinking that I might remove the exhaust plate on the side and look through there?

    1980 Chrysler Sea King 15 Overheating/Waterpump Concerns

I was able to pull the water tube out today. The top piece looks like it has a crack as I suspected, but I’m not sure it it’s supposed to be like that. Could this be my problem?

    1980 Chrysler Sea King 15 Overheating/Waterpump Concerns

I am almost certain that the motor has never been opened up or pulled until I got to it except maybe the impeller? I’m sure I saw it there. I will remove it and inspect for any imperfections. When I looked at the water tube from the bottom, it looked like there was a bit of a straight crack at...

    1980 Chrysler Sea King 15 Overheating/Waterpump Concerns

The old impeller looked fine it wasn't missing any fins, just old and covered in calcium. I wasn't able to get a good heat gun yet, but I took my boat out today to demonstrate my problems. I poured water on it and showed the steam so I have no doubt that is is overheating. I decided to take the...

    1980 Chrysler Sea King 15 Overheating/Waterpump Concerns

I am suspecting that I might have an exhaust leak into my cowling since when I put my cowling on the motor sputters a bit. Could this be related to my water flow problem at higher speed? I will try to take a better video of my motor at the water since I didn’t know about the overheating problem...

    1980 Chrysler Sea King 15 Overheating/Waterpump Concerns

Yeah I believe I've heard that somewhere, where if you pur water on the head then it shouldn't sizzle and evaporate? Yeah there are no thermostats on these motors until around 1984ish and mine's a 1980. I'll go out and buy a heat gun maybe from Harbor Freght if its good. (I went to buy a...

    1980 Chrysler Sea King 15 Overheating/Waterpump Concerns

Hello everyone. I have been fixing up my 1980 Sea King 15 Hp. It had a blown head gasket and bad condenser. I installed a new impeller and sanded/cleaned the pump housing and followed Chrysleroutboarddude’s waterpump video. video. I am concerned about cooling at high speeds. I got it running on...
