    I'm experiencing a weird sound as well. But before I go crazy with everything, I'm considering to do higher octane and timing check. Maybe I can do an octane boost since I have 3/4 of a tank of 87. Question: Was this the same or similar sound you had?

    Hi everybody, I'm getting a similar noise like the original poster of the thread. This is the noise coming from my engine and with the outdrive off, video enclosed below. Does anyone know what the fix for this was? Please help... 1985 Mercruiser Alpha 1 Gen 1 3.0 140hp

    I pulled the Sterndrive and it still makes the same noise. So I'm guessing the coupler or flywheel.

    I'm not sure what toggle switch I would need for my instrument panel. I believe it has like 4 or 5 tabs on the back of it. All the other switches on the panel are the same I believe. Nav, Bilge, etc. The boat is a 1985 Century. I'll check the actual switch later. Just asking for now. Thanks

    I rebuilt my carb and it's idling and running real nice, I do smell it running a little bit rich, do I turn the screw in or out to make it leaner? It's a Mercruiser Alpha 1 Engine 3.0 Generation 1.

    Yes that's what I'm going to do. Being that the metal fuel line was already cut to modify for the electric pump, I'll use marine grade rubber fuel line to attach them together with good hose clamps.
