I would love to throttle the person...

Who came up with the idea to use plastic door handles on hardened steel shafts in Vans with sliding doors! Big heavy door, harden the steel post, then put a plastic pull handle on it, with a screw through the middle of the handle! Always after a few years, the plastic teeth strip out on the...

Anybody with experiance with Porta Bote's?

My wife and I have been thinking about selling our current aluminum 14 foot fishing boat and picking up a Porta Bote so we can fold it up and hang on the side of the 5th wheel and do some traveling, our current set up works fine, because we can tow the fishing boat behind our 5th wheel as a...

I was able to find a Fuel pump repair kit as well as a carburetor kit for my M18C2 today, that was like finding a needle in a hay stack! New Old Stock stuff, sitting in the shop of an old time boat mechanic! Ye Ha!

I just figured out, why I do my own work!

With being as stove up as I am, I tentatively started taking some things to the shop last summer to be worked on, and just now figured out why I had refused to do this most of my life! I took my 9.8hp Mercury in and had the lower unit oil changed last summer, put one trip to the lake on it and...

    Another Tohatsu motor question.

If I am not mistaken, the Tohatsu 2 stoke motor has its main exhaust through the prop? If so, it would seem my oil problem mentioned in another thread today would be from the intake system, cause when I lowered my motor just now a small amount of water with black oil in it, exited the prop opening.

Captain, it seems we have problems! Darn it...

Have been getting my Tohatsu M18C2 ready for spring and summer, so I go and pull it out of the test tank this morning and the lower unit is covered in black oil, which seems to be lower unit oil, not 2stroke oil, so it looks like a lower unit rebuild is in order!, if it isn't one thing it is...

Just in case anybody is interested in re-jetting for altitude.

    Anyone know anything about....Stevens boats?

I have a really nice opportunity on a Stevens Boat with a 90 Horse Mercury hanging on it, looks to be in pretty good shape, but I am not familiar with this brand of boat, I can get the boat, motor and trailer for less than a grand, which normally is less that what you would pay for the Motor...

I am trying to get to the low idle adjustment screw on my Mercury 9.8 model 100 and for the life of me, I can't figure out how to get to the darn thing, the upright bracket that the fuel pump is mounted on does not allow access to it? Is there some special screw driver that mercury made to do this?

Where is Boom at when you need him? Or anyone else.

Hey Boom, I have a question for you about Water pressure tanks, or anyone else that knows. As I posted earlier this year, my bladder in the pressure tank broke this winter, spring is here, and it is time to replace it, so I was wondering what is the minimum sized tank I should look at...
