    vinyl is about 1/16" thick. foam will compress to about 1/16" on edge of substrate. we normally left 3/8" gap on cushion substrates

    I use garbage bags if I don't have the cheap plastic drop cloth. Some times they are lavender scented Do not use epoxy to seal the wood. Staples go into fiberglass easier than epoxy soaked wood If the foam is starting to deteriorate, replace it. P65 in the middle, P80 on the horse collars

    anodizing is a great primer. looks like the original drives may have driven thru the sand a bit. then someone added zinc prior to a few layers of paint that Ted has now removed.

    fresh water cooled carbed motor would be 140 or 160 F thermostat "Commander" is a PCM motor not a Volvo Penta. however any stainless stant thermostat from your local NAPA for your ford motor will work.

    That is the drain down to the bilge. If you have water backing up, you have a serious leak and most likely a dead bilge pump and plugged lumber holes

    The best way to help is to teach a man to fish vs just giving the guy a fish sandwich. Also, attempting a rebuild without the manual is just stupid.
