    Yes. However, while I was turning the starter to answer this question, the bendix actually engaged the flywheel and I got it started for a few seconds. It is on a trailer and I didn't want to run it too long out of the water.

    Eddie, When I turn the key to start, the starter spins like crazy, but the bendix does not raise up to engage the flywheel. I have had a charger on the battery, and the light on the charger is solid, so I am pretty sure the battery is fully charged. Not sure about the flywheel bolts, I'll check...

    OK, I found a solenoid online, so I know what it looks like and can find it on the engine, but can I perform a test to determine if that is exactly what the issue is? Jim

    Thanks for your replies, guys. I am pretty sure that the starter is about 5" x 7" mounted vertically under the flywheel, but I am not sure where the solonoid is and what it looks like. Help, please? Thanks, Jim
