bravo bellows job, design #2 water intake hose question

[2009 stingray]

im doing bellows on a bravo 3, the water intake hose has the plastic section going into the housing and the rubber hose has a clamp connecting the 2, one of those crush squeeze clamps you see on non reusable items
can i/ should i cut the clamp off and install a new rubber hose or is it ill advised ? is the plastic section a wear item? getting to the transom plate inside the boat is very difficult.

If your seeing what's in pic below, I would remove the clamp and hose and just replace the hose
