outrrive alignment tool

can buy 3.0l 4cyl alpha one gen 1 outdrive cheap to use u joint for alignment tool. My engine is 5.7 alpha 1 gen 2 outdrive. will this fit?

you need a shaft alignment tool. an outdrive wont work well, not enough leverage to initially align the bearing.

all input shafts of motors 1991 and later are the same

dimensions of the tool in the stickies

Why not just buy the correct tool, I bought mine off Ebay, $35 shipped to my door !
Or better yet, find a buddy (in my case, my boss) who already has it and offers to loan it to you!

He got his as part of a set which included an aluminum "Donut" that converts the alignment bar into a bearing installation tool. Reportedly wasn't terribly expensive (although I think his set had other tools in it, such as bellow spreaders).

Just my thoughts. I drilled and taped the end of mine to 3/8"- 16 for slide hammer (in case it sticks) and hanging it up with an eye-screw.
