Where did all the logs come from. Did a log raft break up or is this something that just happens?
We are due for some 50 to 60 mph winds today but it’s pretty normal for this time of the year.
Wind gusts were over 100 which I found out later...but remember we were flooded by record floods for like 3 days. Broke all the records around here.
Some of it is normal and I have pictures in years past (log wise) that are much worse.
The rivers were raging and destroyed highways that are major thoroughfares that can't be repaired for months if not longer. Freezing temperatures were at the 8000 ft range so what snow we had in the mountains quickly melted causing the rivers to go even more wild.... Levy failure combined with massive flooding, flooding so bad that's never been recorded this bad at least in this area. My cabin kind of lines up with the straits of Jaun De Fuca which the wind shoots down and pummels what's in its path.
While most of Western Washington got pummeled, that night our area got hit the hardest. Land areas west of me and to the east of me got clobbered. An area at least 200 miles.
It's the northwest so yes we still have trees and the rivers pumped them into the area but logs are common year round and that's why there is no "boat racing" in Puget Sound.
Good thing is, I never need firewood and my cobbled together bulkhead held ...at least kind of.
Now to clean the mess.
One for the history books for sure.
