Humorously: some of my better photographs have come off of my iPhone. It's honestly pretty capable.

My DSLR is a Nikon D3300. I've got several Minolta SRTs - they were my work horses when I was shooting pro. I've also got a Yashica 120, a Zeiss Ikon and a Leica M3.

Dad still has his asahi Pentax he brought home from siagon in 1967
My Dad got his about early 70's and I think it was Singapore he got it and all the extras. He used to do his own developing . I remember as a kid getting a hiding ( back when it was legal to beat your kids ) after getting into his dark room and having a real good time with all the cool stuff in there .

I don't remember what he brought home, I was only two.

If you find the old picture thread all of those pics I posted are using that camera. He used until maybe 20 years ago when he moved into Sony digital.

I was in dark rooms with Dad as a toddler, and really did that kind of work up into my late 20s. Had all of the stuff until several years ago when I finally decided I was happy having someone else print 'em.

I think the Pentax K1000 came out in the mid-70s. Probably real similar to the model he brought home. Good cameras, and easy to operate. If you wanna' play with film, it's probably a easy and cheap thing to give a go.

Dad had one too. Love that camera

He past on this date in 2018

I gave it to my sister when he died. she just parked it in a box in her basement. never even had the film developed. bet its under 3" of cobwebs, spider crap and dust and mold.

That stinks.

I know it won't be the same camera. But if it's worth the effort, "a" K1000 that's not "the" might be a fun marker. They're CHEAP. And they're good.

I shot Minolta SRTs which are roughly the same camera. I have three of 'em mostly collecting dust, but I can dust 'em off and throw a roll in ... and they still work on. K1000 is the same type. Nearly as luddite as your car. ;)
