Alright, vacation over. Yesterday, I finishedsanding and buffing a spot I sprayed on a phoenix. Then the boss remembered we also have to fix the bow stand on the trailer. Sure, no problem. I figured just replace the roller and maybe bend the tabs a bit.

We tried to heat and bend them back, but the boss cut them off with a torch and I'm making new ones.

Every once in awhile I lay down some beautiful welds but the grinder is definitely my BFF most of the time.

A piece of copper is your friend in these situations.

Used to pile welding rods (stick) to fill the gaps then run a wash bead to tie it together.

unskilled welder..........rod burner

First pic lower right is where I started. Lower left if where the boss did a bit and told me I was going too slow. I got a bit better after that.

I was standing there while the boss was on the phone with the guy. He was in a head on collision while towing this. For that kind of accident, it was surprisingly light damage. Anyway, here it is.

The only head on tow vehicle I saw was in the skyway toll booth area, and the boat didn't use transom tie downs.

The boat landed on the vehicle 50 ft ahead

My Chap has transom tie downs but it would have little effect stopping it from going forward initially. The boat would move forward about 6 to 7 feet before the transom straps would tighten up. That amount of energy may snap the straps. I installed a bow strap to hold it down so it will not begin to move unless that strap breaks
