Volvo Penta kills the Seven Marine Brand

Discontinue Seven Marine? Volvo Penta has discontinued the popular Seven Marine outboard brand. Sales will cease on January 1st 2021

I was never going to own one, but, dag nab it, another OB brand shut down.

In furtherance of VolvoPenta Zero Emissions by 2050, at the latest....

Eric and Rick who founded seven marine then sold it to volvo had hoped it would flourish...... not be killed off.

boat builders quit ordering it because Volvo made it difficult to get motors. a good example is intrepid. they used to build many boats with2-3 7 marine outboards. now they simply put 3-4 of the mercury racing 450's on them and manually cut away the swim step to get them to fit.

That sucks, those were some really awesome outboards with some crazy hp, and unique cowling designs. Seeing an off shore boat with a few of those on the back was always a treat to be honest. Hearing them run was even better.

the motors were intended for clientele that were in the 50+ year range, over $5M of disposable income and were designed for multiple engine installations on sport fishing boats. whom else can afford a 50-80' center console sport fishing boat that does close to 100mph
