i know that the engine is overheating, but i am not sure if its a thermostat or a pump problem, or both. when the engine is cold, water flows out the exhaust ports below the power head. but as the engine warms, that stops. the thermostat housing does not heat up like the rest of the engine.. but...
my freind has a 1963? (engine #'s are V4AL-16D / S/N 2399583 ) johnson v-4 motor that overheats. one cylinder is down to 65 pounds of compression. will a blown head gasket cause one of these to overheat?
