    1970 Mercury 1000 - 100 hp problem

    We have an 1970 Mercury 1000 - 100 hp Outboard and it runs great in Neutral. In reverse it runs great. When we move the gear lever into forward it either dies or putts.<br /><br />We have replaced plugs, wires, Dist. cap and had the lower unit rebuilt.<br /><br />Any suggestions? :confused:

    Loss of power on acceleration
