    1977 Evinrude 140 Lower Unit

    I need to replace the lower unit on my 1977 Evinrude 140 (model 140743S)but have been told by one individual that the only unit that will fit this model is the 1977 140 HP. Another has told me that any 85, 115, 140 lower unit from 1978-1992 will fit. Who is correct?
