I am replacing the impellor in a 1991 8 HP Johnson, and everything seems to be going well except that there is about 270 degrees of play in the drive shaft. I mean that if I turn the shaft until the prop turns, then reverse the rotation and twist it the other direction you can rotate the shaft...
I have a shot 1985 Merc 75 Hp and a repair place suggested replacing it with a used 90 HP honda. I think the Honda weighs 385 lbs, and that seems way heavier than the current 2-cycle. Anyone know what the 75 HP Merc weighs? I'm guessing under 300 lbs.
