I picked up a 1980 Harris Flote Bote (20 feet) and trailer for almost nothing in 2004. Took it down to the frame and tubes. New marine grade plywood and carpet and honda 40HP for renovation 1. No furniture, steering console and that's it. Original single axle center lift hoosier trailer. Replaced wood/aluminum motor mount transom with aluminum. Added drain plugs to back tube sections (drained a couple times per year) Renovation lasted about 15 years of heavy use (2000 hours run time). Trailer broke around 2016, so picked up wolverine dual axle center lift (did not care for trailer, very cheap). 2020 Renovation 2, replaced flooring againg with new Marine Grade Plywood in 2020. Upgraded to Yamaha 70HP 4 stroke. Installed new really nice furniture and captains chair. Also installed vinyl flooring. Rewired the lights, added new lights. Finally, new 25" diameter pontoons. Also new tandem bunk trailer from Pauls marine with surge brakes. Have already put about 500 hours on the boat since. Boat and renovations are FANTASTIC. Trailer is so stable on the road, we trailer to the lake multiple times per week. This 1980 boat has so much life left!!!! I've saved so much money do the work myself over the years. Pontoons are pretty simple to work on if you are comfortable with tools, minor metal fabrications, etc. I highly recommend renovating old boats.
