    Proper Gas Tank Setup When Starting

    i am a newbie to boating and outboard engines i have a 1991 40 hp when i start it it runs good for a couple of minutes then seems to lack fuel ,does my gas tank vent supposed to be open or closed when running,also should te fuel filter stay pretty full or not when running,,,, thanks any help...

    1990 40 hp johnson will idle but not rev up

    thanks any help please my 40 hp will idle but not rev up as soon as i try to rev it up it starts like cutting out or something what can i do thanks again!!!:confused:
