    Water tube

i have used 5 min epoxy on the threads of the screws to tighten them up , not saying its a proper way to fix because if you are not at the correct setting you cant / shouldn't adjust once the epoxy has set. it will tighten the threads to stop the screw backing out. best permanent fix is a...

    Wet sanding gel coat

you will see the reason why sand and butting is best done at the same time frame when you get to the clean up stage "from experience " its a messy job and clean up is time consuming if the sanding residue is left to go rock hard. i overcome some of the drudgery by high pressure washing before...

Bought my first boat to tinker on. Looking for advice

take it apart , see how bad it is in the bores etc , parts used to be easy to come by when my brother had his and prices were not too bad either . you may just get away with aa re ring and a hone , but be prepared for the worst . as i posted earlier the starter is a weak link , you have probably...

battery charging issue has me stumped

i seen the green death on a jet ski years ago, , the cable seemed to carry normal voltage , when it was loaded with amps it would fail and the battery would not accept a charge.. i did the same eliminated wiring as i was getting voltage reading s that appeared normal but the starter would not...

its been a sad time the past few weeks.

it amazed me how much i accumulated in the sheds over 30 odd years here doing all sorts of projects ( cars , bikes , boats , trucks , house renovation, you name it , lots / most of it now on the scrap pile or the skip bin pile. every project had some reminder in a box or on a shelf. still have...

its been a sad time the past few weeks.

problem with giving away to idiots is i don't have hours of day to spend talking shyt , like for example , one bloke comes , i spend a good hour talking , he wanted a pull starter for a older 25 Evinrude , so after a long drawn out search , i found the one he needed , then he pizzed and moaned...

battery charging issue has me stumped

i know in some circles this is frowned upon ,however i do it all the time without any repercussions. disconnect the battery terminal when the motor is running , if motor stalls that usually means there is a rectifier / regulator gone or the alternator / generator is gone..

its been a sad time the past few weeks.

shifting house and 30years of collectable boat motors and parts went to scrap metal pile ( pics to come).. not dealing with it too well ,it makes me sad when i look at that pile with all that history heading off to scrap in the next weeks, i could not keep it due to limited storage on new...

battery charging issue has me stumped

? what voltage are you getting at the battery terminals when you rev the motor , should be around 14 v give or take anything less than12.5 indicates to me the rectifier is toast. have you checked the amp output of the charge system , you can have as many volts but without amps nothing going to...

    Boat firing then dies

have you dipped the fuel tank or recently filled the tank to ensure there is enough fuel in it.. i would run a external 10 liter tank ( outboard tank) directly to the fuel pump inlet before further diagnostics continue.
